6 Beauty Picks for a Pub Garden Trip

summer beauty, summer beauty staples, day out in summer, pub garden beauty, jeffree star thirst trap, kristen leanne x urban decay highlighter, review, swatches, nyx butter gloss, obsession makeup london concealing wand, cyo cosmetics the radiant one bronzing and illuminatng compact, seventeen skin wow! primer,

Here in the UK we've been having our fair share of gorgeous pub garden weather in the last few months, and it's making me really want to get out of the house for boozy outdoor hangouts and ice-cream. I often don't like to wear make-up if it's too hot, but I'm finding more of a balance lately with wearing lighter, more breathable bases and piling on the glow. I've been buying lots of new bits and pieces lately, most of which provide the summer dew and glow that I've been craving, so I thought I'd share some of these beauty picks with you as they're ideal for lazy summer afternoons with cider.

I know this is a really raved about product, and I honestly wish I'd picked this up much sooner than I did. The Seventeen Skin Wow! Primer gives a gorgeous glow and sheen to the skin, even when I mix it with heavy foundations or concealers. It also doubles as a beautiful highlight by itself, looking beautiful dotted on the cheekbones. Snap it up on the Boots website while you can, and if you miss out, there are plenty of alternatives. My other favourite liquid illuminator is the Soap & Glory Hocus Focus Illuminator, which I talked about here, and also I love the Barry M Light Me Up! Liquid Highlighter, which you can read about here. Primark also offer their own liquid highlighters that are great for mixing.

A new purchase for me, I picked this amazing, giant highlighting palette up in the Debenhams sale, where it was down to half price at only £11! I initially didn't have a huge amount of interest in Kristen Leanne's collaboration - except for the colourful eye palette -, but when I spotted this half price I decided to give it a go. I don't often go for golden highlighters but I've been really enjoying using this one - I tend to mix all three shades -, as it gives a lovely glow and sheen to the skin, and it doesn't look stark or unnatural.

This is a real one-step product, I think, as it both bronzes and highlights the skin. I'm quite generous when applying this product and I pop it on with a big, fluffy bronzing brush. I prefer to swirl all the colours together and apply on the cheeks, but I find that the bronze can swallow up the highlight, so I like to add highlighter still on top. It's a really gorgeous, soft product, but don't be fooled by its appearance as it can be easy to over-bronze, so if you're new to makeup, go in with a little bit and build up.

For those hot days where I can't be arsed to wear a lipstick, I find myself reaching for a lip gloss. The NYX Butter Gloss line is by far my favourite, although I really enjoy the Essence Shine Shine Shine! line too. NYX's line isn't heavy or tacky, and, unlike their sister product, the Intense Butter Gloss, I find that my hair doesn't stick and cling to the product. They also don't bleed. They give a gorgeous glossy finish and smell divine too. The bolder colours benefit from a lip liner, but Praline is very much a 'my lips but better' kind of shade that I can pop on and reapply without the hassle of extra products. You can read my full post on these glosses here.

The long-anticipated summer 2018 collection of Jeffree Star's just dropped, and with it came eight new liquid lipstick shades. Although about half are quite similar to what's already available in his collection, I found myself immediately drawn to the shade Thirst Trap, an amazing metallic champagne shade that's unlike what's already in my collection. An easy way to add a bit of something to a basic look, I'll be wearing this when I want to look like I've made effort.. without actually making any effort. Jeffree's formula is long-wearing and comfortable, and I find they make it really easy to over-draw my lips, a look I love to do. You can see me wearing this beaut here.

Although I'm obsessed with heavy duty concealers, and tend to opt for them 9 times out of 10, in the summer time it's nice to use something a little more lightweight. Obsession Makeup London have released a concealer that does the job perfectly! The downside is the shade range is extremely limited, and I know not everyone likes the sponge applicator for hygiene reasons, but I find it really useful and easy to use. I also bought one of the darker shades to use as a bronzer. I find the concealer applies and sets well, and also feels very breathable. For such a lightweight seeming formula, I'm really impressed with the coverage it gives. I also feel like it's really easy to pop into your handbag and touch up on the go.

What are your picks for trips out in the summer?
