Review: 17 Stay Time Concealer

17 stay time concealer review, affordable, drugstore, beauty, cosmetics, review, cruelty-free

If you've been around my blog for a long time, you'll know that Collection's Lasting Perfection concealer has been my holy grail for the past few years of my life. But, I think that has changed. The 17 Stay Time concealer has taken its place. Now, let me break it down to you why that is...

17's Stay Time Concealer is a liquid concealer that comes in a tube with a doe-foot applicator. It's available in three shades on the Boots website, but I swear I thought there were more when I was swatching it in store - but I can't quite remember! It retails at £4.49 so it's only a few pennies dearer than the cult favourite Collection's Lasting Perfection Concealer, and you get 7ml of product. I actually bought this 17 number in the shade Fair, as I felt that Extra Fair was just a little too light. I'm often the lightest shade in drugstore shades, like an Ivory or Porcelain, but even I found the shade Extra Fair to be, well, too fair, so if you're ghostly in skin-colour, I reckon this might be worth checking out! It also has a foundation counterpart, which isn't much more expensive. I did consider buying this too but when  I swatched it I wasn't convinced by how stiff and matte it seemed to be - I worried it would pick at any dry patches or spots, rather than covering them, and it would generally sit unsightly on my skin, as I am someone with dry-skin. That said, it's something I may try out in the future at some point, as I can imagine with that kind of texture that yes, it would stay put really well! The Stay Time Concealer claims to give up to 18 hours wear, not transfer, and provide a full coverage, flawless finish.

The Stay Time Concealer's texture isn't quite as stiff and difficult as its foundation counterpart, though it doesn't quite feel as liquidy and creamy as Collection's Lasting Perfection. Because of this, though, I feel like it's going to really stay on my skin. I do feel sometimes that Collection's Lasting Perfection can slide off my nose if I haven't packed enough of an even layer of product onto the skin. I'm impressed with how this concealer tackles that area of my skin! On a slightly different note - I feel like this concealer's shade matches my skin really well. The look of it in the tube, is how it looks on the skin. It can be hard to find concealers in the drugstore which do such a thing, especially the cheaper shades. While Collection Lasting Perfection and the Bourjois Healthy Mix concealer both look on the skin how they do in their packaging, concealers like Conceal & Correct by BeautyUK and Miss Sporty's Perfect Stay both seem a little more orange-toned on the skin than how they look in the tube. It's not like any of these concealers oxidise over time, they literally just come out orange toned on the skin but it is workable.

It's safe to say that I haven't tested out the '18 hours' of wear as I reckon the longest I'd have worn this for is around 8 or 9 hours, which is about as long as my day will be when wearing makeup. It also claims to be non-transferable which, I'm not entirely convinced of. I do feel like ot stays put better and even when I'm touching my face, I don't feel like I've come away with product on my fingertips. That said, non-transfer is a bit too strong of a term. Even after I set it, I still find a little on any round-neck t-shirts I've pulled on after! For me, fading is minimal, and I love how evenly it does so, so I don't have red patchiness from where the concealer once was. I love how long this stays fresh on my skin for. I really do feel like it does an excellent job of covering up my redness and I feel like it pulls my look together, and makes me appear flawless. What's not to love about that?

Yes! Something about this concealer has won me over, beating my old-faithful Collection Lasting Perfection to my favourite concealer. I'm super fond of the lasting power and the fact that the texture makes it really stick to ensure I have good coverage all day, especially around my nose area which can be a little troublesome to cover. It's an excellent match for my skin in terms of shade, and I feel like this makes me look the most perfect out of all my favourite concealers. I'm so glad I picked this up! It's better than even some of the pricier drugstore concealers I own.
