Day to Night: Styling Tailored Trousers

how to style high waist tailored trousers, styling tailored trousers, how to style tailored trousers, day to night, how to style tailored trousers for day, how to style tailored trousers casually, how to dress up tailored trousers, how to style tailored trousers for a night out

Today's post is another style post, but this time instead of sharing with you the ways I often wear my tailored trousers, I thought I'd take you through how you can transform the same pair from casual day-time wear to a more glamorous, night-appropriate look.

The trousers I'm using for this post are a pair of high waist slim-leg trousers I nabbed in the New Look sale a good few months ago - they featured in one of my vlogs, so you may recognise them! Whilst I've owned them for ages, I've not had a chance to wear them as I waited for my mum to get round to taking them up for me. I adore the fit of these, they are perfect and my favourite way to wear them is definitely for the day - but I like to know I have options!

Tee: Primark Men's (old)
Belt (recent) & Jacket (old): Primark

For a day-time look, I paired these gorgeous trousers with a fun, playful cartoon print. I loved this Looney Tunes t-shirt I found in the Primark Men's section, and I knew I had to get it, especially because it was black and white which allowed it to be a much more versatile piece than something bright and colourful. I tucked my tee into my high-waist as I prefer this look, and I cinched in my waist with this gorgeous lilac belt I bought in August. It adds the most subtle pop of colour, I think. I wore my Converse for optimum comfort - plus I don't think you can go wrong with them when they're with tailored trousers. It just works, you know? - and for my outerwear I decided to break the white/grey theme and throw on my fluffy-collared bomber jacket I picked up in Primark's sale earlier in the year.

Top (old) & Shoes (old): Primark
Jacket: Bershka

I didn't realise how much Primark I was wearing until I started writing this post haha. I decided for this look to make the top black as more of a contrast to the day-time version of this outfit. I chose my long-sleeved bardot top I got from Primark back around Jan-Feb time, as I think it's pretty much just a classic, staple piece that you can't go wrong with. For shoes, I put on my peep-toe shoe boots. I really like the lace-up detail on them, but I feel these often sit quite loose no matter how tightly I think I've tied them, and whilst I adore the look of these shoes they aren't the most practical as they aren't overly comfy. But heels weren't made to be comfortable, were they? For my jacket, I picked my Bershka white biker jacket (AKA: the jacket of dreams) which I do NOT get enough wear out of, and I'm determined to do so now that the weather is getting colder. It's so cute and absolutely makes me feel like an 80's queen/Alex Drake, and what's not to love about that?

That's a wrap for this post - what do you think of tailored trousers? Let me know in the comments!
