Okay, I ain't gonna lie. I'm not totes crazy mad in love with MAC lipsticks, but it is nice to buy one every now and then - they have some beautiful colours, and while I tend to buy their more unique shades, I love their nude lipsticks. A few I was looking at getting include Brave, Velvet Teddy, and Twig. That said, when I was in Glasgow duty-free when Jack and I were on our way to Turkey, it was Men Love Mystery that I was really after - a beautiful matte lilac shade where no photo can do it justice, not after I've seen it in person. The lovely Grace from Grace Bee recommended it to me, and she's totes right - I adore it. One day, it's gonna be mine. Sadly, in Glasgow airport, it was sold out - I'm kinda gutted that I won't get it for £12.50! The girl at the counter tried to tell me Heroine was similar, but it's totally not, not in my eyes (although Heroine is lovely). I also had my eye on Stone, but I'm still not sure if it will suit me. I love the unique shade, but without trying it on it's a shade I find hard to tell if I'd wear.

So, I decided instead to go with a trusty nude, because you can't really go wrong with them. Jack patiently waited until I'd made my decision, swatching lipstick after lipstick, and when I'd decided on The One, he kindly bought me it so I wouldn't have to spend my holiday money (and also I think he's taking pity on me bcos I'm broke AF right now haha).

The shade that I opted for was Twig, a brownish pink nude with a satin finish. In their usual MAC fashion, they've created an extremely comfortable lipstick that doesn't feel drying and leans more towards an almost hydrating formula. It's definitely a my-lips-but-better shade for me, and is super opaque in a single swipe, which, for the most part, I wouldn't expect anything less from a MAC lipstick. I must admit though, that when I was swatching some of the dark mattes at the lipstick counter, I was surprised at how harsh and patchy some of the shades seemed - I can't remember the names or I'd tell you -, which is why I ended up going for a classic nude.

I don't often reach for my MAC lipsticks, probably because I tend to buy brighter shades and I'm so lazy that my bright shades need to be matte so they don't slide all over the place or come off within seconds of me taking a drink or bite to eat, but I think I'm going to get a lot of wear out of Twig, and now that I'm reminded of how delightful they are to wear, I'd love to eventually get my hands on the gorgeous Brave - but not before I get Men Love Mystery, of course! ;)

Twig ordinarily retails at £15.50 on the MAC website here. What's your favourite MAC shade?
